a: My best piece of creative work before coming to this course
This is a 3 point perspective drawing of a building on the corner of the street I grew up on in Hong Kong. The interesting thing about this particular building is that the architectural style is very much the typical 70s colonial Hong Kong aesthetic. However, as the area undergone gentrification, the integration of the old and the new can be seen through the integration of a modern convenient store at ground level.
b: An image of a great piece of architecture
The Great Pyramid of Giza located in Cairo, Egypt is one of the earliest forms of human construction listed as one of the seven wonders of the world. Its greatness lies within the impressive feat of engineering and accuracy of construction using rudimentary but ingenious technology, long before the invention of the wheel for transportation or iron for chiselling sandstone. The Egyptian's use of simple methods, such as observing the travel path of stars to find the alignment of true North and using water to ensure the site was level prior to construction, demonstrates how basic but effective strategies can be used to build structures that stood the test of time.
c: An original photograph of something beautiful
This is a photograph of the sunset taken on my 18th birthday from the roof of my apartment building overlooking Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong. Aside from the obvious beauty of the colours in the sky and interesting cloud formations, this image is also associated with everlasting positive memories from that day as I celebrated entering adulthood with my close friends and family.
